FAQs – Marquees and Equipment

Do you hire equipment independent of marquees?

Yes. In addition to marquees, All Star Hire offer all the equipment that you could need for a wedding, party, corporate event etc. including tables, chairs, dance floors, staging, uplighting, chandeliers, utility lights, marquee lining, starlight lining, heating, hard flooring, carpets etc. If we don’t stock something you want, we will do our best to source it for you.

Are your marquees Safe?

All Star Hire only supply marquees that are manufactured to the highest quality and that conform to all the necessary Irish and European Quality and Safety Standards. The manufacturer of all our standard marquees is certified ISO 9001 2008.

Can the marquee walls be removed if it is a hot day?

Yes. The walls can be slid or folded back or totally removed with relative ease. We will happily show you how this works when on site.

How good are the heaters?

They are excellent. We supply ducted, thermostatically controlled heaters that sit outside of the marquee and heat the inside via a duct that sits under the canvas wall. Although the weather dictates the heating, one heater is usually enough for a party of around 80 guests.

Can you handle difficult sites? Can the marquees be attached to houses?

Yes. Over the years we have seen all sorts of gardens and sites and so can confidently overcome most obstacles. We have erected marquees on slopes, have included ponds and trees within marquees.

Will the marquee damage cables or pipes running under my garden?

No. The site survey will identify any potential for damage to underground services. Where stakes cannot be driven into the ground, ballast will be used as an alternative to secure the marquee

Can the marquee be erected on a hard surface?

Yes, if your marquee is to be erected on a hard surface ie, something other than grass we will need to either use weights or bolt the marquee to the surface.

Can the marquees be attached to houses?

Yes, if you need to attach a marquee to your house or office, we simply use a gutter between the marquee and building. Please note that we would need to visit the site prior to making a booking, to confirm its suitability.

Are your marquees waterproof?

Yes. All of our marquees are made from the highest quality waterproof PVC.

Do I need flooring in the marquee?

No, it is not essential that you have flooring within your marquee unless your marquee is likely to be held in bad weather conditions. If your ground does not have good drainage then we recommend wooden floor which is slightly raised. This will prevent puddles in the marquee.

Are marquees suitable for winter events?

Absolutely. Marquees are suitable throughout the year, and when inquiring about a marquee with All Star Hire,we will always create a specification of marquee and equipment that suits the time of year.

During the winter months we would always advise that you hire one of our heaters to go with your marquee and in most cases hard wood flooring and carpet are more suited to ensure that your event is dry, comfortable and warm.

Can I decorate the marquee myself?

Of course, the ability to decorate a marquee is one of the unique selling points for choosing a marquee over another venue. We welcome customers to decorate their marquees, however we request that decorations are not stapled or taped onto the marquee surface and that all decorations are removed prior to the day of take-down. Please advise the company what decorations you would like to use and we will advise how you can use them.

What size marquee do I need?

Please see our marquee size guide where it highlights the number of guest you can fit in each marquee or contact us for help.

What is the latest point I can hire a marquee?

We do take bookings right up to the week of the event although we recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment especially in the high season which tends to be May through until October. More importantly if you are having a medium to large event it is advisable to book early.

Currently we can take bookings anywhere from the day of the event to 3 years in advance

At what stage would you come out for a site visit?

Most small events do not require a site visit however if the event venue has complications that cannot be resolved in our booking process or it is a larger more complex event then we would usually provide a site visit. All site visits would be at the earliest convenience after we receive all event and venue information.  The site survey is completed free of charge.

Why is it important for the client to be there on day of install?

It is important for the client to be there to make sure everything is to their satisfaction, to have demonstration on using the equipment, to notify of any site issues or potential problems, to answer any questions about electrics or other services.

What’s the difference between lined and unlined marquees?

Marquee lining provides a more luxurious finish to a marquee. Most suitable for formal and celebratory events such as weddings or private parties.

With unlined marquees, the PVC walls and marquee structure are fully visible, making them more suitable for functional or casual events

Do we need a generator?

If you do not have a power source on your site then you would require a generator. All Star Hire can advise you where to hire one from upon your enquiry

Do you hire toilets?

We are able to offer a range of toilets to service your event. For a smaller event we would suggest using a 2+1 unit and for some larger events it may require a larger unit with the option of a daily valeting service during your hire period.

Can you suggest venues?

We work closely with a selection of venues and would be pleased to recommend them where appropriate.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Generally, we ask for a 25% deposit as a way of receiving full commitment to hire the marquee. We will issue you with a written acknowledgment of your acceptance.

When and how do we pay?

Full Payment becomes due at commencement of hire period. We accept payment by Cash, Cheque, Credit Transfer, Banker’s Draft

Can I make last minute changes to my marquee?

Alterations to accessory requirements can be made no later than 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability. Marquee alterations are flexible and are based on our terms and conditions. Should the Hirer wish to cancel any items from within the contract then our cancellation policy applies. Please see our Terms and conditions for further details.

How long is your marquee hire period?

Our marquee hire period is for 1-2 days. Typically if hiring a marquee over the weekend we will erect your marquee on the Thursday or Friday before the weekend and take down on the Monday or Tuesday. If you require your marquee to be hired over a longer period of time we have a very reasonable extended hire price charge, which will be accurately calculated within your original quote.
